Welcome to the therapy page of my site. Here's a bit of information about my private practice and me.
In 1978, I closed my New England office and relocated to California. In 1980 I opened my psychotherapy office in Danville. In addition to working with individuals and families in my private practice, I have:
- Worked in a child abuse prevention agency;
- Taught clinical theory and skills on the university level;
- Developed parenting education materials now incorporated into national training for child care workers;
- Trained staff in various professions on the psychological needs of the elderly.
In my private practice I see individuals, couples, and families for both short term and long term, in depth work. Since the publication of my book on aging, many of my clients are people concerned with maximizing their own aging process. My approach is eclectic, based on the client's needs and a typical session is 50 minutes. I have discontinued my individual work with young children, although I frequently work with parents or the entire family around a particular difficulty a young child is experiencing.
My academic credentials include a:
- Master's Degree in Child Development
- Master's Degree in Counseling
- Doctor of Education Degree in Psychology
- Post-doctoral training in Family Therapy
- CA license is Marriage, Family Therapist (MFT 12406)
I don't accept insurance plans, but, if requested, will provide you with a statement since many insurance companies reimburse their policyholders for a percentage of the fee. Currently my fee is $150 per session. Longer sessions are pro-rated.
I see people by appointment only. If you would like to either set up an appointment
or discuss whether I am an appropriate therapist for your situation, please
call
me at (925) 820-7921 or email me.
If you choose to email, please put "appointment" in the subject line so the
computer will know the email is legitimate.
I look forward to speaking with you.
